1) Increase understanding of the present situation in the Mediterranean aquaculture through the provision of quantitative market data and qualitative assessments of comparative advantages and constrains based on national surveys;
2) Prepare a common methodology and template for collection of market information in the Mediterranean region to monitor majors trends and establish accordingly a data base;
3) Formulate market recommendations for the development of Mediterranean aquaculture industry and for the promotion of the Mediterranean aquaculture image.
The extra-budgetary contribution will allow initiating activities of the project early 2008, in partnership with, inter-alia, FEAP and Eurofish.
This project as component of larger CAQ programme will promote a shift from production-oriented approach into a market oriented production strategy addressing critical concepts such as product quality and safety, economic efficiency and market promotion.
