THE GFCM DEFINITION FOR AN OPERATIONAL UNIT

“For the sake of managing fishing effort within a Management Unit, an Operational Unit is the group of fishing vessels practising the same type of fishing operation, targeting the same species or group of species and having a similar economic structure. The grouping of fishing vessels may be subject to change over time and depends on the management objective to be reached.”

CSV DATA EXCHANGE FORMAT

The present document aims to deliver a Comma-Separated Values data exchange format for the sake of the GFCM Task 1: Operational Units data submission defined by the Recommendation GFCM/33/2009/3.

This format is intended to work as a supplementary medium in addition to the current XML Schema and the Task 1 Data Entry Application for those members having National Systems with inbuilt CSV data export capabilities which could therefore leverage on present data transmission architectures.

This version is in line with the current structure of the Task 1 data collection framework. It is subject to be modified in accordance with changes which may be introduced by the Scientific Advisory Committee and endorsed by the GFCM from time to time.
